BraeBen Golf Course, situated in Mississauga’s Heartland community, was designed over 30 years ago, and is perched atop an old landfill. This links style Mississauga golf course not only has great views, but also boasts an excellent layout with an outstanding clubhouse. It seems unusual to be so high up with the ability to see all of Mississauga, but it fits right into the links setting of the course. This allows the wind to whip through the fairways. You could play this course every day and it would never play the same way twice. BraeBen not only offers a great 18-hole layout, but also a 9-hole academy course and a fantastic driving range. With its grand, striking landforms, sweeping fescue and challenging pot bunkers, the course really suits its name, which is Gaelic for “slope” and “mountain or hill.”
Credit Valley Golf Club in Misssissauga scores as one of the Top 100 golf courses in Canada and has seen its fair share of facelifts, going through three of Canada’s most renowned golf architects (Graham Cook, Stanley Thompson, Robbie Robinson) in its storied history. Fortunately, the end result is a for sure masterpiece. The hallmarks of Credit Valley are its tilted greens, interesting bunkers, plateau fairways, neck openings to greens, and its adherence to the preservation of nature. A parklands style layout, Credit Valley provides both an immense challenge, and colossal beauty. Aside from the golf course, they also offer excellent practice facilities. Not only is there a Mississauga driving range, but also an enormous practice green to work on your chipping and putting. Inside the clubhouse there is an excellent restaurant, decadent locker room, and even a swimming pool! Credit Valley is more then just a Mississauga golf course, its an experience.
Derrydale Golf Course in Mississauga offers possibly the most unique experience to be found anywhere. For those of you who feel that 9 holes isn’t enough but 18 holes is too many, you’re in luck. Spurred on by a memorable Jack Nicklaus quote, Derrydale has put together a 12-hole Mississauga golf course. The mature par-40 design that brings water into play on 8 of the holes is adorned with 26 bunkers and plenty of trees. With 2010 marking the 40th anniversary of the course opening, the changeover to 12 holes is a new exciting idea that will create a fresh direction for the course. If you’re looking for something a little different aside from your usual 18, consider Derrydale Golf Course.

The beautiful design is 6,340 yards in length with a par of 71, which may be short compared to today’s standards; however it is rife with numerous tests around every corner, not making length an issue.

Colt, a man that has designed over 300 courses, including Wentworth and Hamilton Golf and Country Club, and has worked on extensive redesigns of Muirfield (UK), Royal Liverpool, and Hoylake, designed this 18-hole layout. If that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will. The third oldest golf club in all of North America, Toronto Golf & country club is a private Mississauga golf course; however its beauty and maturity are unparalleled. The greens are arguably the toughest part of this course, with peak speeds resulting in a strong challenge. Easily the best part of this course is hands-down, the atmosphere. Not much has changed since opening and you can feel it, there’s that sense of history and elegance that is uncomparable. So if you’re ever given the chance to play at this landmark, don’t pass it up.
