Oakville Golf Courses in Oakville Ontario Canada

When a city has held the national championship held there 25 times in its history, as Oakville has, it goes without saying that there are some good Oakville golf courses to be played in the area. All in all, Oakville Golf is and always will be best known for Glen Abbey and as being the host of the Canadian Open, the city really offers up something for everyone.  Glen Abbey’s not the only gem in Oakville, and with it being private, chances are you’re going to be teeing it up at one of the other great locations unless of course you’re a Clublink member. If you live in or around Oakville, or are just passing through, I urge you to stop in and enjoy one of their great courses. Golfing in Oakville is a great experience.

Not much needs to be said about Glen Abbey Golf Club. Those who haven’t played it have probably been there to watch the Open, and those who haven’t done either of these have surely seen it on TV. Nonetheless, this beautiful Oakville golf course, ranked number 8 in the country, was Jack Nicklaus’ first solo design. Surprisingly enough, this course appeals to all types of golfers. From the black tees it measures 7112 yards and has a slope of 140, which is extremely difficult. From the shorter tees however, it is very accommodating because of its receptive fairways.  Always held in pristine condition, the layout is bolstered by tricky greens and steep bunkers. It probably goes without saying, but if given the chance to play Glen Abbey, don’t pass it up or you will regret it.

The Oakville Golf Club, another private Oakville golf course, is one of the oldest established clubs in the GTA.  Just minutes from downtown Oakville, it is as challenging and picturesque a layout as you will find anywhere in the area. Established in 1921, the wonderful setting of the course, running along Sixteen Mile Creek, is a lush and challenging oasis. The perfect backdrop for any occasion. The Oakville Golf Club may not have the prestige of Glen Abbey but is the perfect backdrop for any occasion as the course offers everything you will need and more.

Deerfield Golf Course, located on the North Service Road, is an Oakville golf course that has just about everything. Before your round you can hit some balls and practice putting, or go into the restaurant for a bite to eat. Once you get onto the course you’ll find mature tree-lined fairways, plenty of bunkers, and water that comes into play on 6 of the 18 holes.  Don’t let the fact that it’s visible from the highway confuse you, this course is stocked full of gorgeous holes that will test golfers of all skill levels.

Oakville Executive Golf Course, a 27-hole layout, is a shorter course, perfect for working on your game. The 18-hole, par 63 Mystic Ridge course has a great range of holes, from 145 yards to 460 yards, and everything in between.  The signature 18th hole is a challenging test and a fun way to finish off the day. The 9-hole, par 36 course called Angel’s View, borders Sixteen Mile Creek, the same creek that runs through the valley holes at Glen Abbey, offers a perfect test for the golfer that wants to play in less than two hours. With a good mix of par 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s, Angel’s View is an underrated 9-hole course that is worth the $29 green fee.

River Oaks Golf Course, located on Dundas St., is another 9-hole layout that has all the trademarks you would expect from a golf course in the GTA.  The well-planned layout will leave you pleased you teed it up. The small greens and relatively flat fairways make it a perfect course for beginner to intermediate golfers.

Saw Whet Golf Course, conveniently found in the heart of the city, is an 18-hole layout sprawled out across 132 acres of land.  With a full driving range and putting green practice facility, it offers up everything a golfer needs. If you’re just looking to grab a bite to eat, or want to sit and relax after your round, stop by and enjoy lunch on the beautiful waterfall patio.

White Oaks Golf Course is an executive length 9-hole Oakville golf course that is perfect for juniors and beginners, or those looking to sharpen their short games. White Oaks also offers one of the best full practice facilities in the area, complete with grass tees and mats, a pitching green with a sand trap, and a putting green.
