Golfing in Ottawa dates back to the early 1900’s when an 18-hole golf course was built at the Ottawa Hunt Club. Now known as the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, it has hosted such prestigious events as the Canadian Open in 1932, the Americas Cup in 1960 and more recently the CN Canadian Women’s Open in 2008. Known for being the most respected golf course in Ottawa, it been played by professional golfers, celebrities, princes, prime ministers and presidents. Becoming a member ain’t cheap, with a $24,000 initiation for fully-privileged golf.

Another of the most prestigious golf courses in Ottawa is the Hyland Golf Club, an 18-hole, members only club that offers a challenging 18 holes that officially opened in 1972.

With so many historic country clubs in Ottawa, there are several new ones as well including the Anderson Links Golf and Country Club which opened in 2007 and Falcon Ridge Golf Course on the south end of Ottawa which opened in 2002.

During golf season, there are many outdoor driving ranges in Ottawa.
