Golf has a longstanding tradition in Owen Sound, dating back to 1920 when the first golf course in Owen Sound was built. The Owen Sound Golf and Country Club introduced the sport of golf to Owen Sound with a 6,145 yard, 18-hole course designed by Stanley Thompson. Memberships and pay-per-play rates are both available, as well as special junior discounts. Also onside is a 17 acre practice facility, pro shop and an Owen Sound driving range to warm up before hitting the links.

Located nearby is the Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club, just south of Owen Sound. It’s certainly a challenging round of golf. Tee shots are narrow and greens are challenging, but you’ll find the landing areas to be often generous. The 18-hole course spans 6,256 yards at par 70, and facilities also include a driving range with target greens, putting and chipping area, pro shop, Owen Sound golf lessons, and more. Memberships and non-membership pricing are both available.

Scenic City Golf Course is another local favourite in Owen Sound. It started as a 9-hole course and expanded to 18 holes, with a nice mix of challenging greens with easier ones, catering to more seasoned golfers as well as newer ones.

But among the most prestigious country clubs in Owen Sound, located just north of town in Kemble. Cobble Beach is “Georgian Bay’s Extraordinary Golf Resort Community,” rated among the top 20 golf resorts in Canada by Links Magazine and Ontario’s best new course by Ontario Golf Magazine. The Cobble Beach golf resort was established in 2004, bringing a new level of luxury golfing to Owen Sound.

The 7,134 yard, par 72 course was designed by architect Doug Carrick, combining surrounding woodlands with generous fairways, challenging greens and spectacular views of the water.
